NBA Playoffs

The NBA playoffs are underway and after last night the CAVS are leading their series against the Wizards 2-0. I wasn't able to watch the 1st game of the series but saw the highlights and read some articles about the game. From what I understood the Wizards were playing pretty dirty, giving hard fouls, and from the beginning were say LeBron was over rated and they would easily win. After the game on Saturday LeBron was very professional and said that he knew they would be coming after him and there wasn't anything he could do but play his best and try to let in not get to him. In Game 2 on Monday the Wizards didn't let up on their hard fouls. Lebron got fouled hard at one point in the game on his way to the basket and it was clearly intentional. Brendon Haywood was the accused player and was ejected from the game because of his flagrant foul. I was really glad the CAVS won but also think the Wizards need to become a little more classier and play the game the way it should be played. One of their main goals of the game shouldn't be to give hard fouls. RISE UP.

NBA Playoff Ads

Watching the NBA Playoffs they have alot of ads that go on during the commercial breaks and the best ads are the ones that are advertising for the playoffs. Below I have posted the video of LeBron James and Kevin Garnett. If you type in There can be only one in the youtube search engine you can see the rest. They are amazing.

5 days....

The NFL draft is coming up in 5 days and this is a big day for NFL fans. Alot of times there is drama and controversy between teams and players. It is anticipated for teams and their fans that had a bad season, this is their chance to change the pace of their program. I was reading an article somewhere that was talking about the Bengals and who they would draft. The guy who wrote it said something like, "They don't have any secure positions other than at QB." At first I took offense to the statement and thought the guy was an idiot and didn't know what he was saying. But as I began to read on and think about the statement I realized what he said was pretty true. If you look at each position there is some player that has had really good games and then over is a pretty general player. And if you look at a guy like TJ Houshmandzadeh a guy with massive talent that puts up amazing numbers and is always reliable, they still don't have alot of depth with the Wide Receivers. Especially at the current time when NO ONE can tell what Chad Johnson is thinking or doing. So with this draft coming up like I said in an earlier post, it will be interesting to see what happens in the 2008 draft with all the teams esp. the Bengals.

Scarlet and Gray Game 08'

Went to the spring game this weekend and it was pretty fun. I got there early because they were playing the lacrosse game before in the shoe and you could sit anywhere you wanted and stay for the spring game. Me and a few friends sat in the South stands and had a really good view for the lacrosse game and the spring game. It was cloudy the whole time during the lacrosse game, and the intense qualities of the sport kept alot of people interested. As soon as the football players stepped onto the field it began to rain. And it didn't just rain for a little bit and stop, it rained the WHOLE time. After sitting in misery and watching amazingness (the spring game) the "fake fans" were weeded out from the true fans through the rain. After the game was over people started going onto the field, I wasn't about to let that opportunity pass. I got a few friends to go down with me and we started over to where the players were going to head into the locker room. Chris Wells passes, Malcom Jenkins, Jon Thoma (punter), walks right beside us. Then out of the corner of my eye i see a mass of scarlet pass behind me, the team was walking on either side of me and I was stuck in a rut trying to figure out which way to look. After most had gone into the locker room, Todd Boeckman trotted by and we gave him our congrats and he "head nodded" back. After all the rain it was really worth it to stick around to be able to be down on the field with all of the players. IT WAS AWESOME!!

Gregory Wayne Oden Jr.

My parents went to Portland this past weekend for a conference related to my dad's work. It took them basically all day to get to Portland stopping in Arizona at one point and then finally making it to Oregon. As I was told my dad was joking with my mom saying that they should call and say they just met Greg Oden. Even though he was joking around a few hundred feet away in the airport Greg Oden was there, looming over a few people. If you don't know who I'm talking about when I say Greg Oden then I'm not sure you should be reading this. Anyway my mom got all excited and ran up to Mr. Oden and got her picture taken with him and his autograph. SOO JEALOUS. As soon as she walked away from Greg she called me to tell me what just happened. She was more excited than a little kid in a candy store for the first time. As I asked her details about what was said between the two she said she couldn't even remember because she was in such a whirl. haha. I thought it was neat to see how excited she was to meet him and then at the same time was very envious that she got to meet him. So basically Greg Oden and I are family now.

DAY IN THE LIFE

When I saw this idea I wasn't sure what to write about and or what type of media to post with it. Being a sports related blog I had heard that Spike Lee is creating a movie/documentary of A Day in the Life of Kobe Bryant. They announced it during one the Lakers Spurs game before the playoffs had started. Spike was interviewed and said that they had 17 cameras set up around the arena and all of them were focused on Kobe the entire game. I'm excited for this movie to come out, Kobe is a great player, though he has had some controversy following his name he is a great athlete. He works hard at what he does and does a good job at it too. I'm sure Spike will put together an amazing documentary.

Danica Patrick wins the Indy Japan 300

Danica Patrick became the 1st women to win an IndiCar race ever. Props to the female athletes out there. This was a major step in women's sporting, especially racing. I think they will begin to gain more respect in the sport. Even though Danica did cry after she won maybe having women in the sport will fuel the sport overall.

3 New Links

I wanted to post 3 of the site that I get alot of my information from if I miss a game, or want to see what the analysts think about different topics and subjects. They aren't the same thing as a blog because they aren't kept in the same style but there are writers that usually specialize in a subject and know what they are talking about. The links are posted at the bottom. I have espn.com, sports.yahoo.com, and scout.com. I use the 1st two for sports things in general and I use the scout stuff to look up recruitment stuff for football and basketball.

Just wanted to post some pictures that were taken at an OSU game.  I'm going to the spring game this weekend and and pretty pumped about it... GO BUCKS

Golf, Basketball, and Football

There has been alot of talk lately in the sports world after the Masters were played.  Tiger Woods seems to be the guy on everyones mind.  You hear more about Tiger than Trevor Immelman, the guy that won the Masters.  Tiger was hoping to win the Masters and try for the Grand Slam in golf this year.  For a long time he seemed to be unbeatable, a machine that no one could stop.  And everyone was excited to see how he would unravel a remarkable comeback to win the Masters.  Even though he didn't win he placed second.  People seemed upset about the outcome because of the great athlete and role model that Tiger is to everyone.  He does deserve praise for his good work but I think people need to focus on Trevor the real champion of the Masters because he did beat everyone else out to eventually wear the green jacket.

The NBA playoffs are around the corner and I'm excited to see what will happen.  You have the West conference where all the teams are very talented and for now the Lakers are on top and the rest are close in games won and lost.  There will be alot of fight to determine who goes to the finals.  In the Eastern conference you have the Celtics on top and they are far from the Pistons in second.  I can't wait to see the outcome of this years NBA playoffs.

The NFL draft is just around the corner and its always exciting to see where the college stars end up going.  The draft to me is all about the 1st and 2nd round and then you can find out later what happened in the other rounds.  It can seem pretty boring, but the beginning of the draft is when all of the drama unfolds.  Being the Bengals fan that I am I hope the coaches play it smart and start building up our defense.  Alot of the mock drafts had the Bengals taking Rashard Mendenhall and they would be really dumb if they did that, we need D.  Guess we'll see soon what they decided to do.

Vids

Some videos one from an OSU game and the other two are from Cincinnati Bengals games....Done on my cell phone, so the quality isnt great

WHOA!

I was looking through some videos on youtube and had seen this one before and really enjoyed it. This video doesn't really deal with sports in general but the people doing this stuff have an unbelievable amount of athleticism and balance to do this stuff.

Basketball NIT CHAMPS

I never got to say anything about the buckeyes big win over University of Massachusetts to be crowned the NIT champs...I really enjoyed Jamar Butler's comments after the game when he said, "this is what happens when you don't let a tournament team into the 64." Refering to the Buckeyes not getting into the 2008 NCAA tournament.  Above are some pictures during a game previously in the NIT.

Sports Blogs

On the top right-hand corner I posted 3 blogs that I felt related to what I was trying to do with my blog as well as enjoyed reading. The 1st espn.com blog was from a few people about tennis and the different tournaments going on right now. The aroundtheoval.com post is all about Ohio State athletics!! And the 2nd espn.com post is by John Clayton on the NFL. The 1st two blogs I had just found and really enjoyed them, and John's I hadn't read but have heard his opinion before and like what he has to say alot of the time.

National Title Games

Over the past two days the men's and women's college basketball champions have been crowned. Although both awards are similar the games and outcomes showed different outcomes.

In the men's championship game it became very intense by the end of the game with both teams battling for the chance to be the top dog. Kansas did a great job of keeping their composure and not letting the crowd get to them because Memphis had the momentum to win the game. After Kansas made a last second 3 to tie the game you could feel an instant momentum change. And the rest is history.

As for the women's championship game, not everyone was on the edge of their seat for the whole game. The pre-game was hyped with controversy over which Candice would be crowned national champ. The commentators had their opinions and valid reasoning. Candice Wiggins had won the player of the year and was favored to an injured Candice Parker who was injured earlier in the tournament. The final score and the box score both prove that this was a well deserved win by Tennessee.
